Several training visits were planned this academic year as an integral component of the Renewable Energy Engineering program. Last month, MedTech junior year engineering students enjoyed a full-day training visit to the Research and Technology Center of Energy (CRTEn) as part of the course “Biomass & Bioenergy Systems”.
During the visit, the students were familiarized with the principles and function of fuel cell technology. They had the unique opportunity to see the on-site designed fuel cell test station, the only one of its kind in Tunisia and North Africa. The students have also witnessed real-life experiments of multiple forms of clean energies such as Photovoltaic, Thermal, and Wind energies in addition to examining their respective pilot stations.
“The visit was overall interesting and helped students witness more the practical aspects of their study course. Wind turbine station, Biomass presentation, solar pilots. Although the site needs more maintenance, I am positive that such on-field visits are crucial for the academic training as future Renwable Energies Engineers”, said Oumaya Msehli, Professor of Biomass and Bioenergy Systems who joined students during the visit.
