Waves SMU, the MedTech Chapter – There is no doubt that a rich and dynamic student life is one of the best assets to succeed in engineering studies.

More recently, MedTech has been putting effort toward building a stronger community life (or an engaged student body) by increasing student activities (or the number of activities involving students). Launching a new club Waves at Medtech was one of the key activities undertaken by a students’ initiative.

Waves SMU is a club that aims to enrich both theoretical and practical training of students in various engineering studies. It is active in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and develops projects and trainings for students in cutting-edge technologies such as the Internet of Things (IOT), Android development and the Web 3.0.

Launched at the beginning of the academic year 2016/2017, it has been working ever to help its young members in bringing their innovative ideas to reality through assistance and close supervision.

To make the most out of this exciting initiative, Waves SMU members partnered, back in February, with GoMyCode, and participated in the HashCode Contest for coding and principles of software development using the latest technologies. The team CodeRockers occupied proudly the second place in the contest, nationwide. Upcoming projects of this new club will mainly revolve around trainings on software development, different tracks such as mobile, web, game, data and related fields.

This initiative will add breadth and depth to the complementary engineering curriculum and will enhance

the students’ professional development in line with long-term career aims.
